On March 26, 2012, our Government and the Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations (FSIN) announced three panelists who will lead the Joint Task Force on Improving Education and Employment Outcomes for First Nations and Métis people in Saskatchewan.

The joint task force panelists are:

    

Gary Merasty (Biography)
Vice President Corporate Social Responsibility of Cameco

Gary Merasty is Vice President of Corporate Social Responsibility at Cameco Corporation.  He grew up in a small reserve community in northern Saskatchewan.  

Gary is a former Member of Parliament and also former Grand Chief of the Prince Albert Grand Council.


Rita Bouvier  (Biography)
Researcher/Writer and Community-learning Facilitator

Rita is a teacher, who has served in various leadership roles in education at home and abroad.  Her lifelong interest in Aboriginal education and social justice have often spilled over to community volunteer and consultancy work, such as the Saskatchewan’s Northern Governance Task Force, Gabriel Dumont Institute of Native Studies and Applied Research, the Independent Oversight Committee on Métis Elections Saskatchewan, and Iskwewuk E-wichiwitochik – Women Working Together, Education International.

 

Don Hoium  (Biography)
Executive Director, League of Educational Administrators, Directors and Superintendents of Saskatchewan

Don Hoium is currently serving as the Executive Director of the Saskatchewan League of Educational Administrators, Directors and Superintendents (LEADS). Mr. Hoium retired as Director of Education for Regina Public Schools in 2011.  Mr. Hoium joined Regina Public Schools in August of 2006 as Superintendent, School Administrative Services before assuming the director’s role in 2007.
