Student Summer Works (SSW) logo

Student Summer Works (SSW) is a summer program designed to connect students to quality part-time and full-time employment. SSW strives to:

  • improve students’ ability to pay for continued education;
  • provide students with work experience to develop practical work skills;
  • link future graduates to potential long-term employers in Saskatchewan; and
  • create employment opportunities that strengthen organizational capacity and  support succession planning.

Ensuring students with employment barriers can gain work experience to build their employment capacity is a key priority for AEEI.  As a result, the SSW program will continue to be focused on students with disabilities and Aboriginal students who continue to be under-represented in our growing workforce.  Typically, applications are submitted in March with a final deadline of July 31st provided that funds are still available.

Employer Eligibility:

  • Legally entitled to operate in Saskatchewan;
  • The employment has to be at least 4 weeks in length;
  • Provide employee coverage through the Workers' Compensation Board or through a private liability insurance policy if exempt from Workers' Compensation; and
  • Comply with all applicable federal and provincial labour and human rights legislation and standards.

Student Eligibility:

  • Saskatchewan resident;
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada;
  • At least 15 years of age (15 year olds are required to obtain a Certificate of Completion from the Young Worker Readiness Certificate Course (YWRCC)); and
  • Enrolled as a student at a secondary or post-secondary school or institution and returning to full-time studies after the period of employment.
